Simba’s Story, Part 1: The Puppy Who Came Running to My Dad
Simba as a tiny black and tan puppy, curled up asleep in a blanket

The first time we met Simba, he was only three weeks old.

We heard that his mother had cancer and couldn’t take care of him anymore. So we went to see him.

He wasn’t alone. Simba had siblings, a little group of tiny puppies all together. But out of all of them, Simba was the one who came running to my dad the most.

Of course, he couldn’t really run yet. He toddled over on his tiny legs, one small, wobbly step at a time. It was so, so cute.

And that was how we ended up bringing Simba home.

Simba came to us in 2017. By then, Jake had already been part of our family for about seven years.

Out of all those puppies, Simba was the one who came to my dad. In the end, we chose him too.

To be continued.
